For the student without prior experience
StringTime is perfect for students who want to try violin, viola, or cello without getting locked into an instrument rental contract or long-term commitment to lessons. Show up on Day 1 of camp without ever having touched an instrument and play in a concert on Day 5.
For the student with experience
StringTime is also perfect for students with a range of prior experience; those who have played in school to those who are proficient in 1st-2nd positions, in Suzuki books 1-2, or play at VBDOA Grades 1-2. Our teachers use a flexible curriculum to ensure all students are challenged and inspired. If you are unsure whether your child would be a good fit for camp, please email us at info@stringtimemusic.org.
Our Program
Private Lessons
Every student receives individual instruction from one of our professional faculty members. These lessons will be tailored to fit the needed of the students.
Music Theory
Camp days include classroom sessions that introduce and reinforce essential music theory concepts such as rhythm, note naming, intervals, key signatures, and music notation.
Music History
Students are taught about famous composers, relevant historical events, and musical concepts that will inform and enrich their music making.
Ensembles
Students learn to work and play with others in small and large ensembles. They develop listening skills and improve concentration.
Games
StringTime is tons of fun! We understand that students will need a break from the classroom. We design games and listening exercises that help reinforce skills learned at camp.
Faculty Performances
Our teachers are all professional musicians. Every day, your children will be inspired by hearing their teachers perform great music and demonstrate difficult techniques.
